Activities:
During July and August, our resident manager can answer questions. The manager is likely to be one of the Conant family members or a
local summer resident. The Conants and many of Long Pond's residents have summered here for generations. So ask us about local
activities, nearby nature trails, fun excursions and local lore. Immediately next to Apley House, you can walk and bicycle on miles of
Wildlands Trust trails and roads. Long Pond has a state owned boat ramp and the lake is stocked with fish -- look up the state website
to find out about horsepower and fishing restrictrictions. During selected Pinweoods/CDSS sessions in July and August, you are
welcome as guests for their Sunday evening program of folk music and/or folk dance. These begin around 8 pm. To attend, please ask
our resident manager for information. Each weekend between July 4th and Labor Day you can watch sail boat races sponsored by the
Chetolah Yacht Club. The races have been going on for over 60 years.
The Tourist Bureau information booth in Plymouth is about 15 minutes away and has tons of information on Plymouth's historic sites,
museums, deep sea fishing and whale watching. Miles Standish State Forest has hiking, biking and nature trails that are 15 minutes away.
Plymouth's most popular golf courses are less than 3 miles away. The Cape Cod Canal bike path is a popular outing that is about 20
minutes away. Manomet's and Ellisville's ocean beaches are within 10 miles of Long Pond. The Lower Cape is easily accible for a 1/2
day trip (save this for week days when the traffic isn't so bad). The Outer Cape is an exciting day-long excursion and with good
planning you can make it out to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket and back in one day.
