Porto Seguro and Brazil Fest
Porto Seguro partnered with Capoeira Charleston and the
Caribbean Creole Food Truck to stage Brazil Fest at the Hungry
Monk Music Studio in West Ashley. The evening was a fun mix of
music, capoeira, drum lines, food and merriment. Audience
comments reflect the fun time that was had by all:
“best night of live music I have enjoyed in years”
“they were great”
“It was a great evening! Even my grandson was impressed.”
“This was so much fun! Great job”
Good Foot Plays
Celtic Night at Charleston Music Hall
Good Foot’s set for Celtic Night at the Charleston Music Hall
(sponsored by the College of Charleston) provided a high energy
start to the evening. The band played a mix of traditional and
original tunes and songs that showcased each of the three players.
The evening continued with sets by Hungry Monks and Castle
Crossing and ended with a fun, upbeat grand finale that included
all the night’s participants.
Good Foot is headed into the recording studio in June -- watch for
more news here!

Duo Dos - flute and guitar duet
Duo dos is Susan on flutes with Tom Noren on seven string guitar.
The two started this new venture in order to provide a portable
subset of thier quartet, Porto Seguro. Their repertoire includes
Brazilian choro and light jazz from early to mid 20th century,
originals and classical standards. Both classically trained at the
New England Conservatory in Boston, they have branched out to
include music that digs into their roots. Noren grew up in Rio
steeped in their rich musical traditions. Conant has life-long ties to
the Contra, English and Scottish dance communities. Duo Dos’
carefully crafted music is perfect for intimate concerts, social
functions and gatherings. Samples and photos coming soon.
